It will get you out of the $h1t - but probably in the $h1t if you get stopped with it on an axle in Froglandia. Axles should have the same size tyres on, end of story, even if the rolling circumference is hardly changed.

Personally, I'd take it and get a couple of those spray foam puncture fixers as insurance, and only us the spare if you really have to.

Ok that's interesting.....i was going to get a new tyre as well...idea would be to get to a garage asap to fit ,said new tyre,,,as long as it bolts on and drives in a reasonable fashion..would make do for me.

And yep ..i got some of the foam cans.

Axles MUST be the same wheel and tyre, end of story. The wheel will physically fit (assuming it's a 4x98) but wont be legal, and TBH I doubt any reputable tyre firm would fit it on an axle so it was mixed.

If you're stopped with it, in the UK or France, you'll get the book thrown at you, and heaven help you if you had a prang and someone was badly hurt or killed. In France (I believe) it would be a tow-away.
You wouldn't be able to drive it, because it would not pass a UK MOT and it wouldn't pass the French Controlle Technique (or whatever it is called).

Hope you're getting that this is a s e r i o u s l y daft idea, except as a spare - and even then all the above applies...

Spares can be found all over the place. eBay, Freecycle, scrappies, my garden, where I have 5...

Worth noting that this is a 14" wheel (the 175/70 is the bog standard) and almost ANY Fiat, Lancia or Alfa 14" wheel will "fit" including a space-saver from a car so long as it has: 4x98 PCD and an 88 (minimum) rated tyre, a passable offset. You might for instance find a pair of Lancia wheels for peanuts, stick them on an axle and use your other wheel as a spare, but really... I wouldn't bother. Just take the bl33ding spray cans and enjoy your trip. The worst that will happen is you rip a tyre to shreds and need a new one while you're over there, and thats going to be cheaper than getting lifted by the Gendarmerie and having your car impounded.
