I have a Doblo 2013 and in the last couple of weeks my windscreen wiper blades have been squeaking a lot which is driving me crazy  The wiper blades are about 6 months old and OEM. Is there anything that can be done? Except from squeaking, they are still wiping good.

hi, :)

get some damp kitchen towel.., and give them a good clean / wipe..;)

you'll be amazed at the greasy dirt they are covered in..:yuck:

let us know..,(y)

I seriously doubt cleaning the wiper blades will do any good, since the squeaking was still present after driving in the rain for 2 hours :) but thanks for the tip anyway (y)

I have very bad experience putting lube on the windscreen or anything else that doesn't belong there... I once tried to polish my windscreen on my old Fiat .. I couldn't see anything in the rain for the next few days :D

I'm considering buying non OEM wiper blades. Is £22.20 a good price for a front pair? I can't remember the price of the wiper blades from my local FIAT service center though.... does anyone know the approx. price of OEM blades?

hi,

I had the same problem awhile back, I got the proper rubber blades.............brilliant!!!

The ones that were on, the plastic type................would drive you mad.

John.

It must be a common thing my 2007 cargo wipers squeaked so I bought the updated linkage kit and fitted it,still they squeaked [emoji37].Eventually I found by applying a little 3in1 to the lower arm pivot by the big Spring all was quiet [emoji4], lesson learnt.

Had the same issue after 8 months of usage and Ive decided to go with Heyner brand.Hybrid ones for 18.99£ and so far so good, great quality and easy fitting

I replaced mine a couple of months ago for the same reason. Cured the problem & yes cost about £22 for quality parts.

I have a rule no windscreen wash and no washing windows with washing up liquid, lasted 80,000 miles replaced with Bosch, expensive but worth it 140,000 miles

So good to see I'm not the only (old) codger who is driven nuts by these squeaks and noises! Mine squeak - but only on one sweep and its not the wiper blades - some from the mech - which I can't see how to access. Happy wiping!

My 2007 Doblo had the same problem I replaced the link bar below the windscreen escutcheon for the mod one thinking it was that was the squeak ,I was wrong it was the pivot hinge at the base of the wiper blade by the big spring a dab of engine oil shuts it up for a while.

Sometimes I find with my fiat it's because there's not enough liquid on the windscreen, so I only use mine during consistent rain fall.

Scrub the blades, make sure they are clean.

Then scrub your windscreen with a glass-safe pad. Scrub it good! Then give it a good ol' fashioned waxing! Just like the old days. Use a paste wax NOT a spray. Wax on, let it bake, wax off (don't forget to breath). Then buff it good!

Make sure you don't put the blades back down onto the glass until buffing is done and the screen is good and dry.

This has always worked for me, even with cheap or worn blades.

If it is linkage worn don't forget to strip spindled & grease, not a difficult job whole mechanism comes out in 10 min. I explained about striping spindles in another post .
The whole job should take less than an hour, make sure the balls on linkage are not rusty, I use silicon grease on the balls & spindles.
Are the blades turning over on screen? eg. trailing blade one way & pushing it the other? if so the arm needs a twist to get it flipping the blade, do not be tempted to use the blade to twist arm an adjustable spanner is best
