hi
i was hoping someone could tell me the timing marks on a 1.3 multijet engine i think it has jumped a tooth and was hoping someone on here how to check the timing as quickly as possible
the dam van wont start and keeps coming up cam sensor fault
any help would be great
thanks
brian

It's got a chain inside the engine, pretty much rule that out, unless it's been rattling when cold. Is that cam or crank sensor? Did you change them? I would start with faults that have shown.

If memory serves me right, there is no timing marks. The camshaft is locked into position with a special tool. The crankshaft is also locked into position with a special tool ( at the flywheel end ).
When you have these 2 tools located into position........that's it...................Engine timing done.
When you get a minute, you could check if they line up.
Hope this helps.
John.

thanks for the help had it in mates garage today lacking compression as well so wondering if worth fixing seemly spoke to someone at fiat and says coming problem with multijet engines tensioners go and chain slips just wondering if engine worth saving

thanks

If the chain has slipped usually caused by the guide snapping, shouldn't be that bad, doesn't usually bend valves. Snap's the rockers £84 for a set although you will still need gaskets, chain,t tensioner. If everything else checks out might be worth it. You don't mention the age and mileage so it's hard to say.

2005 model with 95 k on it can get timing kit for under 50 pounds
thanks

Go for it!!! It should be ok. If the chain has slipped, I'd assume the cam sensor is out of line, and that's why you'd get the cam fault code.
As already mentioned, the rocker gives way. Happened to relation not too long ago. Got the parts that were needed, put all back together,
and is going like a dream ever since.

John.
