Hi guys,

I have a 2003 JTD ELX. I recently took off the front exhaust section because it was rusted through and noticed a hole in the down pipe from the turbo. See attached picture.

I'm looking for advice on what to do next. Is it possible to replace just the down pipe or is it integral with the turbo? Do I need to replace the whole turbo? Would I be best off just patching the hole?

Have trawled the forums but can't find any useful info. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful!

Thanks

Looks just like mine, I scratched head as to what it was, in the end have fitted one of those Holts flexi wrap around bands and has lasted 4 months so far, with good improvement in power and gets rid of the whooshing noise when you accelerate. Mines on 202,000 miles so hoping it will last , think maybe part of turbo and around £700,

Fibreglass matting if it's on the intake side. Might be OK on the outlet side as well - I've used it on exausts before and had no come-backs.

this is the turbo outlet its part of the exhaust, eper gives part number 46748868.

ebay are selling whole turbo units for the jtd for £50, scrap yard would be the best and just buy the actual item as any repair will not hold and might fragment damaging your catalytic converter, if you have one. wouldn't think the metal would take weld either, maybe exhaust bandage would be a temp repair or sleeve with a flexi as already suggested.

as its on the outlet no turbo boost will be lost so it does not affect the running of the car but would fail mot.

Thanks for all the replies. Have used Holts Gun Gum Flexiwrap for now - will see how it lasts. Interesting to know that the turbo outlet it is a separate part. Tried to get it off without taking the turbo out but bolts are seized. Fingers crossed for MOT.
