The mpg display on my 1.9 multijet can never settle on how many miles i have left it the tank, it changes every few minutes. Today I was sat at some traffic lights and it tells me i have just over a 1000 miles in the tank, i start driving and its says 900, then 840 a few minutes later, then 790, then 720. Then 10mins later it settled at about 870 odd.

Is this just a regular doblo thing? or does it hint of something else being amiss with my engine?

on a maybe related note, I constantly have diesel sitting in the lip of my fuel filter for some reason. Ive never seen it leak and all the hoses clip on nice and securely.... but, its always there!!

Mine only changes radically just after I've zero'd it and are waiting at lights for example, until it settles down.

I would suggest that there is little wrong with your engine if you are getting 800-odd miles range from a tankful. I'm lucky to see 500 miles on mine after a fill. Normally getting 45 - 50mpg, reducing to 40mpg loaded.
But mine is wheelchair converted, so it's heavier than standard and doesn't have a standard fuel tank.

It might be telling me thats what im getting from a tank, but ive yet to see it happen! :D

This is the first time ive brimmed the tank and zero'd the counter, so will be interesting to see what i do manage to achieve.

hi , I have a 04 1.9 jtd and the range on mine does fluctuate , think it depends on the type of driving you are doing at the time , mine does around 50 mpg running around and on a long run can get 65 , as for the diesel round the filter top .. mine was weeping once after a service but found it wasn't tightened up enough .

I have the 1.9 multijet too (Its the 120 bhp with dpf) and it is the same. Think its to do with how much you have your foot down. Also when doing a regen the range will be all over the place. No wet filter though.

Yeah im use to cars with trip computers have a re-calculate, i notice it on my car when i use it for a long motorway trip. But the doblo just seems to alter constantly.

Regarding the fuel filter, I have the type where the fuel lines just clip onto the top of filter, there is no tightening up i can do! Its a UFI too, whom i believe make the Fiat branded filters, so its strange that something weeps on it.
