I have a 2011 Fiat Doblo 2.0 Multijet (263.A1.000 Engine)which has had some form of engine failure after only 47k miles.

After a 50 mile trip to Chester the engine was started tomake the return visit home but immediately started making an horrificmechanical noise. The recovery people reckoned it wasn't running on all thecylinders but did no more diagnostic than that. The car didn't smoke or dropany oil at this point and it had been running fine up till this point.

It was recovered to my mechanic who dropped the oil. He saysthat there wasn't much oil left in the sump (perhaps 3 litres) and that the oilhad a silvery sheen but not full of bits. The oil had been changed no more than4 months earlier and was level checked recently.

The mechanic recommended I source a replacement engine butafter being scammed for a grand by a con artist in London and let down by thescrapyard with the only other 2.0 engine I could find in the UK, I have decidedto try to repair my engine (or have it reconditioned).
Is anyone aware of any common weak points in the engine that we shouldfocus our attention on to find the source of the metal in the oil?

hi, sorry to hear this,
they are generally pretty tough.., this oil must've gone somewhere:eek:

if no sign of leaks..then it's been "burnt / or pushed out"

pulling it apart should highlight any real wear, how many miles in the 4 months since it was last changed / topped=up..??

It had never needed a top up between services before. The last oil change was because I got an oil viscocity warning light which was strange. I wonder if that was the start of the problem and something drastic was happening in the engine.

The engine is out now as you need to remove the gearbox to remove the sump!!! Nice design flaw there Fiat.
