We have a Doblo with 45k on the clock and the Engine Management light has come on. It is still running fine, no loss of power, it hasn't gone into limp mode, no black smoke or heavy consumption noted.

Any ideas?

Yes, it has, it's an 06 plate. For the first few years it did very little mileage as we live in a town with very good public transport (not in the UK).

For the last year it's mileage has been average, hence 45k on a 9 year old car. If you think the DPF may be clogged than perhaps I can take it out for a fast burn on the Autobahn to blow the soot out, my wife tends to stick around 60 -65 mph. We're showing 56mpg on the trip computer, we've had it up to 59 before.

Let me know what your thinking.

Hi again, :)
the DPF is a fussy thing:eek:..the engine oil is essentially "monitored" for quality, and the ECU - car's brain, decides how degraded the oil should be through the type of use the vehicles had..,

so..when you've had an oil change done..you need to;

1, reset the service indicator on the dash

2, reset the oil degradation counter ( ECU)

very common for #2 to be missed..:bang:

if you like the vehicle and plan to keep it then a minor investment in TECH to read and clear faults would soon pay for itself..,

all modern vehicles have kit to the EURO OBD standard..

here is an example;http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vgate-Sca...369487?hash=item4ab7cee50f:g:8O4AAMXQNo5TbowK

the £10 to £30 ones tend to only do engine codes,
other kit can do PAS, ABS , airbags, etc to save money on garage visits..,;)
