Hello

I'm debating buying a high roof Doblo to place a very basic camping conversion box inside. We plan to travel Europe for a month. But I need some help please.

Can you remove the back seats in most 02-08 models?

Will this effect the insurance?

If so what can I do about it?

I plan to put a box design in so it can fold out to a bed and fold back to give much needed space. Also it means when I return, I can revert the car back to a car/van. I really don't want to change the dvla description if it and I don't feel experienced enough to place a cooker and sink it to officially become a camper.

Please any help, plans , manuals etc would truly be appreciated

John

Hi John,

To answer your questions.

Rear seats come out easily, 4 bolts fixed to 80 x 80mm raised box section.

Our conversion is similar to what you describe. 3 easily removable units, bolt back seats for rear passengers or leave them out as load carrier.

One unit between rear doors and nearside sliding door. Cooker, water, gas, cool box.
Two units along offside (could be 1 but 2 easier to handle). Seating/Bed. Drawers under which when open supports other half of hinged bed platform.

Plywood panel ceiling above front seats, useful storage.

3 hinged panels over rear foot well (from behind front seats to seat box thingy) make really useful "hold" storage.

We insure through Adrian Flux, they specialise in this sort of thing. Premium is a bit higher but not much.

Good luck with it.

That's really insightful.

I'd love to see pictures of your conversion.

I contacted adrain flux so that's a great info shared, thanks.

I finally found a Fiat Doblo high roof today but it had sold.

It would be also really great to know if the rear seats fold up in doblo and if so to what size to.
