hi sorry if this is a regular question. I have a 2009 1.9d multijet engine Doblo and need the engine replaced, can it be swapped with a 1.9 multijet from any other model? ie punto, mulipla etc. if so what adjustments would be required.
cheers

I think you'll find that the *blocks* are the same, but heads, injectors, turbos etc differ from model to model? Obviously the best bet is to get a Doblo lump though. Whats gone wrong with it?

hi sorry for the slow reply. the engine has developed a rattle and is running lumpy. garage was going to change the injector but he said the rattle sounds like the engine is broke. the car has 146k on it. it had a oil service warning light flash, I changed the oil and filter reset the oil light but it came back on then 2 weeks l8ter the engine developed the issues.

Could be anything mate, but from what you've said it doesn't sound like you need a new engine, just some new parts. You'd know if the bottom end was gone, and I assume it's still running and still rattling a week later?

Rule of thumb, bottom ends knock, top ends rattle. But it can be anything. You can get a hell of a rattle from the ratchet pulley on the alternator going for instance - pig of a job to do in your garden, but the parts are a tenner.

I'd ask another mechanic to have a look... ;)

I'm from the Newcastle area, anyone recommend a fiat specialist that doesn't charge fiat dealer prices? cheers

Hi,:)

has it got a DPF in the exhaust..,
if so - that could well be related to your issue.

@150 K isn't really high for a looked after diesel..,
you've always got the chance it's a sensor failing,

does it still start well..??
