My Doblo has only done this a few times (1.9 JTD van) but when driving along for example at 30mph on quite light to medium throttle, the car will behave like I have come off the throttle entirely, even though I haven't.

I assume the engine is drive by wire, so could there be a potential throttle pedal issue. Maybe the potentiometer is on the way out if it has one? It's not been a consistent fault, so cannot pinpoint it any better.

My 2007 1.9 multi jet 45k used to do the same I replaced the EGR valve as it was sticking and stuck up with black oil cr-p a common problem I understand, it cost me £120 to do myself about 2 1/2 hrs ware rubber gloves as it's messy.

Thanks. The EGR is already capped and the engine is remapped with EGR deleted, so not sure its that' It hasn't done it since I posted the thread so shall just keep an eye out for it. I still suspect an odd drive by wire signal issue maybe, but really have no clue.

Well, it did this a few times this morning on a bit of a drive. I decided to test it and on one of its "killing throttle" moments, I tried flooring it, and nothing. It wouldn't come out of its throttle killing moment until I was fully off, and then when pushed back down again, it came to life. All the above done in the space of 1.5 to 2 seconds.

It rained a lot yesterday and this could be to blame - the only way I can describe it is it's like someone is simply disconnecting the throttle. Same as if I was fully off the throttle - only I am not. Feels like an electrical thing, like someone is flicking an on/off throttle switch regardless of what I am doing. I may hunt out a replacement pedal first as I guess its drive by wire, not cable.

You can bet your boots theres some dry-jointing somewhere...

Well, it rained a lot overnight (good old Imogen) but no problems on my little driving around Exmouth this morning. :)

I'm 95% certain that this won't be your problem. But; check your brake light switch isn't loose - or the pedal box for that matter.

I noticed on mine that after going through some deep water, and applying the brakes whilst still on the throttle to dry them out, the engine lost power, as if I'd come off the throttle - all was well when I came off the brake pedal. Whether this function is operated by the brake light switch or vacuum I don't know, but it's an off-the-wall suggestion!

this sounds exactly what my doblo did, then it would get worse and cut out. googling suggested crank shaft sensor, no problems since replacement.
i paid £25 for genuine bosch and fitted myself.

It could be the infamous P0504 brake switch A/B problem.

Not heard of that one - no codes stored
I assumed that it was a normal thing for this car!
Only happens when brake and throttle pressed at the same time, and not an issue for me as I don't normally heel & toe in this car

Speaking of codes I really need to try and get my ecumultiscan working. I've put the exe file on my tablet but haven't yet figured out if either of my cables will work. Will need to suck and see I suppose.

Hi folks. Just resurrecting this thread. I was meant to go and look at a dobro to buy but the owner has hit a problem with it. It doesn't want to accelerate. Now usually I would walk away from a car with a problem like this but I'm in Greece and there few and far between! Anyone got any suggestions? Unfortunately I don't know any symptoms apart from its not accelerating.

Well, mine has periodically done its "throttle pedal doing nothing for a second" episodes, but its always random and is not consistent. Most of the time it is spot on.

I've had the same problem would only run fine when it felt like it could be driving normal then complete loss of power even though it revved ok turned out to be MAF sensor just disconnected it no more problems just less MPG
