Dear All,

Complete Newbie here, bought our 2007 Doblo yesterday!

It is a 1.9 Multijet 120 Dynamic

Has anyone considered or fitted a full sized spare wheel to this car? The reason I am thinking of doing this as we are going to fit a towbar for our caravan, and I would much rather have a normal sized wheel over a space saver if we puncture whilst towing.

It looks as if there would be room, would just need to either modify or have a new spare wheel carrier made to accommodate the additional depth.

Any ideas/advice on this greatly appreciated!

I have a 2007 Dynamic 105bhp and have thought of doing the same. Although it has a space-saver spare, the carrier seems large enough for a full size wheel.
I think there should be some kind of spacer to hold the skinny spare in place, but this was missing on mine. I haven't owned my Doblo from new, so don't know what was normal or an option originally. I keep the skinny spare in the load area now, after de-rusting and painting it.

So, it's probably worth checking your carrier before spending any money, it may be fine.

Cheers,
Barry.

Thanks for that Barry, I will have a look!

I took my spare out to check condition and tyre pressure and there is a polystyrene spacer piece that sits in the centre of the space saver, but I think the narrow tyre itself contacts the underside of the car, and also the wheel carrier, so a 185 tyre and wheel definitely wouldn't fit!

We have a few jobs to do yet and this one isn't high on the list currently... :)

Thanks for the reply.

With mine there seemed quite a big gap between the space-saver and the body.
I will eventually take one of the proper wheels off and see if it fits the carrier, when time and motivation permits :)

Cheers,
Barry.

You're right Barry, fill sized spare would fit, as you thought initially!
Had a proper look earlier and measured up, yep, no problem.
Trip to the scrappies now to look for a full size steel wheel with half decent tyre for a spare, splendid.

That's good news, thanks for letting us know the outcome.

Cheers,
Barry.
