Hi webbo, id say check all the usual things cambelt/water pump, head gasket etc. Check g box oil has been changed ive seen that cld be an issue on here. Ive seen some jtd s done over 500 k miles not joking!, if looked after so miles shldnt be prob if its been looked after. Hpe that helps. Neil.

If you want to post what/hasnt been done as regards sh etc im sure well all chip in advice. Neil.

Also check when air filter last changed as 2 of my 3 bolts are so rusted/turned ill prob hve to drill them out.

To be honest I don't like the old 1.9 jtd, much prefer the 1.3 jtd,and they are chain engine so no need to work about cam belt

I've read a fair few stories online where the timing chain has broken on the 1.3 Multijet. Some say it's down to poor oil maintenance? With ~80k on the clock (and a service history that suggests the previous owner (royal mail) changed the oil every 10-15k), I was thinking about changing mine as a preventative measure.

What do Fiat say is the service life for the timing chain assuming regular oil changes?

Many thanks

P.S. Sorry for hijack :)

Dont really understand not liking 1.9 jtd far better than 1.3 id avoid those engines like the plague, cam chain snap and a litany of other probs. Btw did u look at doblie, wss it any good?. Neil.
