Hi,
My name is kev, I am into classic cars (Lotus elan, TR7v8 and landrover)and am familiar with the workings of modern Fords through my work.
I am on here to ask about my father in law's doblo, It is a 2004 1.9jti and he has had it since new, I have serviced it in line with the recommneded intervals etc but it is now begining to show it's age a little, firstly there is one major problem:
It only starts when it feels like it particularly when it has warmed up, the MIL light is on and the code reader had a cam sensor wiring code so we changed this today and it made no diffference, I did find it starts if you clear the code though. One thing we did notice was sometimes it also has the crank sensor code, so assuming they work in a similar way to other cars (must see the right cam / crank signals in the right order determine when to inject the fuel) I am now suspecting it could be the crank sensor, ohterwise my thoughts are
- Cam timing I doubt this as it runs well when it goes and there was no sign the belt could have jumped, is there a way to check this?
- Wiring I have checked all the connectors which seem fine, but the fact that it runs fine once it starts would tend to rule this out?
- ECU, noisy signal etc?
The other problem is the rear brake adjusters (ATE system)one of which we have had to replace, but is does not seem to be adjusting up, do they normally adjust on the handbrake use or footbrake?
Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated.
Kevin
