hi,

while changing a rear wheel some weeks ago, i noticed a buffer in the rear crumbling away to nothing....what is the effect of that, because I'm not noticing much when driving, a bit hard on road bumps, ramps etc, but aside from that all ok

should these be replaced ?

Its a bump stop/spring assistor so you wont notice anything until the suspension really has to flex and the rear axle hits the boot floor. Not sure if they're needed for the mot, however they are fairly cheap to buy replacements so might be worth getting it done.

Thanks John, yes I think I'll get this job done by my mechanic

Takes 20mins a side if u remove the wheel, even less if u crawl under it !! u can get em via ebay, did mine no problem.

Regards
Richie

Richie, I looked at them online, if I thought it was a straightforward screw out the old and screw in the new I'd tackle it myself , you think ?
