Hi

My partner's cambelt decided to give out on his trusty Doblo a couple of days ago (long before it was due for replacement!) and I am trying to get any information out there in how to go about obtaining a replacement engine.

It is a 1.9 JTD for a 2004 plate van. He's all for calling it a day and buying another used vehicle. The van does high mileage but has been so well looked after, is vinyl wrapped and is in brilliant condition for a 10 year old vehicle (apart from a knackered engine!) that I think it deserves a chance to live for a couple more years!

The problem we're having is we've been warned to be very careful in obtaining a second hand engine due to the dodgy companies operating out there.

Have any of you had any experience in purchasing a replacement engine and could maybe recommend a company/person who could help? We thought we had found somewhere but then I have just read some damning reviews on the internet.

We really would appreciate any advice within a couple of days if "Bob The Dob" is to be saved.

Many thanks guys.

Im sorry no ones replied have you tried some local engine suppliers, ebay, scrap yards etc making sure you check provenance/mileage. I needed an engine for an isuzu astra 1.7d and it was a nightmare, good luck, pm me if I can help.
