My 2008, 60k miles 1.9 Multijet has issues with the EGR valve. I have three options:

Take it off and clean it
Replace with a new valve
Fit a blanking plate kit

What would you do?

Thanks

I think the blanking plate goes between the EGR valve and the air feed into the bottom of the valve? How the hell do you get to the clip on one end of the pipe or move the Allen bolts that connect it to the valve on the other?

My Allen bolts are really tight so I thought it would be easiest to remove the Valve. I removed the fuel filter for more leverage but no, I still cant get the bolts to move and am not sure if I should break off the clip at the other end of the pipe to allow me to get the EGR valve off and work on the bench.

Can anybody offer any advice?

Persevere and swear, it's supposed to be good for you!

I bought a new erg valve for just over £100 for my 1.3 Doblo mpv. Getting the old one off was murder. Access to bolts is rediculous but after buying all sorts of flexible connectors and extensions to reach the said bolts I managed to get it off. It was jammed and I was able to free it off but after taking a day or two to get it off I thought fitting the new one was wise.

This was about two years ago so cannot remember the detail but it was a b*****d to get off. I do recall removing connectors to a number of pipes and ancilliarys but did not resort to cutting anything off.

Good luck

I had similar problem replacing my Doblo 1.9 EGR valve (£130 Europarts) , remove the battery and it case,un clip the large rubber Turbo input pipe,un bolt the EGR lower pipe clamp and remove the complete EGR unit with its lower insulated pipe. Then remove those two Allen key bolts on the bench you'll need a box of rubber gloves and a tin of carburettor cleaner plus an old tooth brush to clean inside the pipes and block opening its a ****y sticky job to clean properly ?.
