Hi just about to start building a camper from my Doblo and have made a basic plan, can anyone see any problems before l start building it.

No but have the bed in the back, so don't really need to recline the seats.

Could shorten the bed and lengthen the cushions section, but it just means the end cushions will be very big, and storage is very limited.

This may work better?

Have you looked at how the professionals make doblo campers?

Usually the bed folds away/slides to become a sofa area.

The other side of the van then houses the cupboards from the back of the front seats to the rear door.

Remember the battery will need to vent out through the floor, and why not do the same with the waste water, I don't know of any camper or caravan (without underfloor water tanks) that stores waste water in the cabin.
The folding table idea doesn't make good use of storage and neither does the seemingly permanent bed design.

If you have to have a toilet then it would be better to buy an external tent for it as it's such a small van to house a toilet inside.

I was looking at building my own doblo camper my brother builds VW transporter campers and owns his own company so plenty of experience there to tap into.

Make sure the alternator is good before fitted split charging as this will soon highlight a weak alternator and kill it.

I am pretty sure you can take away the bar you refer to as seating lugs if it helps your foorplan in any way. Keep posting. I get an 08 doblo with lowered floor tomorrow so keen to see ideas and progress.

Hi new layout, now l have ripped out a friends caravan for bits. No room for a fridge but maybe an ice box instead. Took the sink and hob out of the caravan but will have to cut the draining board off, its too long, but not paying £200 for a new one. Don't want to take out the seating lugs because not sure if l will have to put back the seating back in for the MOT. The hope is the bed and sink will just slide in and out as needed.

I've got a camper conversion on my 2007 1.9 Multijet 120 high top.
Folding bed with 2 legal seatbelts.
No waste tank. just a simple overboard drain. Jerry can and 12v submersible pump for the water feed.
Removable table that clips on the rail by the sink and stores at the back of the van as the rear shut off for the under storage on the bed.

This looks fantastic, but very expensive, my budget is around £200 for the full conversion

You really won't get very far at all with only £200

Just a leisure battery wiring and split charge relay will cost you over £100 as will any sort of cooker/sink unit again without fixtures and fittings.

Remember the insulation of all the panels and floor will need doing first otherwise you'll have some very uncomfortable nights

I know l will not get a professional job with £200 but have striped out a unwanted caravan of electrics, gas, cooker etc It must be better than under canvas.

Please forgive me butting in here but campers and motorhomes is all I have done for a living for the past 40 years both manufacture and aftersales service. a few tips fit agm or gel battery as means no venting needed, your gas locker must be made of fireproof material and have high level and low level ventilation and be fully sealed from living area, there is a legal requirement for ventilation per berth allocation and flexible gas connections to appliances must be of armoured Lunken hose type. these must be adhered to for any insurance to not be null and voided.am more than happy to advise if needed, the layout looks fine if it suits you.

Thanks for the info, did not know about the armoured hose, l assume it the same as braided hose you use on motorbikes etc.

Just started making the pull out units for my Doblo
