Hi all and Merry Christmas!!

I have searched google, this forum and a multitude of other forums tryng to find out what is wrong with my Doblo and all to no avail so I turn to you folks in the hope you can help.
I brough my Doblo about 9 months back, 70k miles with fsh and mot's to back up. I have changed the cambelt, tensioners and waterpump since I have had it an last week I changed the rear brake shoes, no problems there.

Now, a month or so after I got it she started to 'play up'. Not enough to cause me an issue but annoying just the same.

I have red all the horror stories about the fuel pump and how they cut out etc but mine does something different. I starts fine, idles fine but then it will randomly, sometimes after driving for 5 miles or sometimes after ticking over for a minute or 2 start to idle high. I would say at approx 1100rpm and it wont stop doing that until I turn the engine off for about10 seconds.

It has never cut out or let me down in all the time I have had it. I have had it on a scanner and it gives the code p0510 Throttle stop position switch.
Parts changed to date to try to sort it:-

  • 2 x 2nd hand throttle postioin sensors (no change)
  • 2 x 2nd hand air mass meters
  • 1 x new feul filter and purge.
It makes no difference if I unplug the air mass meter, there are no split pipes or hoses, fuel economy is around 45mpg, earth strap is fine, diesel pump timing was set spot on at cambelt change (was doing it before)

Could be unrelated but has a strange flat spot/judder in 4th gear at about 30mph, doesn't happen in 5th or 3rd, pull to 40mph in 3rd and hit 4th and its fine.

Egr seems fine, cant tell if eml is working, I think the garage took the bulb out so it wouldnt come on when I went to view it and just fluked that it didnt play up for a month.

A propper headscratcher!!!

I am mechanically minded and it is baffling me.

I would love to hear of any ideas or similar issues.

I am guessing you can monitor it the rotor position from a scanner via the obd socket? Is there any adjustment on the pump pulley with reference to adjusting the pump/rotor timing?
