Latest drama with the engine swap is fitting the gearbox..it looks as though the stilo flywheel is 5mm further out than the doblo.so the gearbox input shaft hits the end of the hole in the crank..any ideas?i could either try drill out the crank ,or chop off the end of the input shaft..both not good options ,then it leaves me with whether the clutch will work if eveything is 5mm closer to the gbox..and starter may not fit..i havnt had a good look at the flywheels but would there be an offset in one of them?or would it be flat bolted and it is the crank itself that is sticking out 5mm

Just a thought, did the Stilo have a spacer on the gearbox bell housing.
If it did and is transferable wondering if it would have an implecation on the starter motor engaging into the flywheel correctly.

i only have the engine from the stilo so havnt seen any spacer..the ring gear on the flywheel is already 5mm furthur away from the block than the doblo one. i have my hopes pinned on it just being a different profile flywheel between the two and hope that the offset it more on the doblo so the flywheel sets closer to the block..because surely the crank wouldny be different?

Will having a look through ePER and cross referencing Doblo and Stilo part numbers give you any pointers?

put the doblo flywheel on and it fitted fine ,i was right ,a 5mm difference in offset of the flywheel so was sticking out too much..gearbox in engine all connected up ,and now it will not start...it had a little cough a few times but nothing saying it was about to fire up .i have fuel at the injectors so im not too sure of next step..crank sensor?cam sensor was a bit rusted up? am going to buy a cable and download the scan software to see if it want to tell me anything..anyone else got any ideas?

found a local guy can get me a oem crank angle sensor for cheap enough ,next weekend am going to swap the cam sensor off the original engine an clean up the pully...other than that im out of ideas..

crank sensor changed..also noticed that the plug for the map sensor and the connector for the cam sensor were the same..swapped them over..charged the battery ,and today she fired up first pop so one of the two did it! will put the rest back together over the weekend but looks like shes alll good to go!
