A leak from the joint between engine and sump requires sump removal and resealing properly.
A leak from the sump plug will need the plug removing, so an oil change, and cleaning or replacing with a new plug.
A leak through the wall of a steel sump is due to rust from the outside and will just be the start of the problem, more will follow. Replace the sump.
A leak through the wall of an alloy sump is due to a crack from impact damage and will open up further with use. Replace the sump.
Leak sealer will try to seal every orifice it can, including trying to gum up all the seals. The lack of a drip on your drive will seem great, until other problems emerge, and much bigger bills. Do it properly.
