Got a 06 Doblo MultiJet Active.

So in just over a year of ownership, after the timing chain being replaced, the EGR valve being replaced, a shredded tyre and some electrical crazy, I have yet another problem with this demon vehicle.

Got a screeching sound (metal on metal) coming from the front right periodically when steering and a knocking sound either when you go over a speed bump, accelerate/decelerate or turn fast.

Any ideas what to look out for so I don't get screwed by the local mechanic?

I've dumped the dealer as everything gets rounded up to £500 - probably even a light bulb change. FIAT dealerships suck.

My guess is a strut top bearing is causing the screeching when you turn (or simply the drive belt is slipping).

The knocking may be the lower suspension arm or "wishbone" bushes are going. Mine does it when I hit a bump in the road, a metallic clink! Need to change a drive shaft so I will do them at the same time....
