Hi all

I have a 53 plate 1.9JTD Doblo cargo.

A few days ago the water pump went and snapped the timing belt. I have taken it to my trusted mechanic and he advised me it was going to be about £400 (as he was not able to do the work) to get a new water pump and the timing belt etc replaced.

However I have just bee told by him that he has since gone to the garage again and they have said they made a mistake and it is in fact an interference engine and the bill is now well over a grand.

I did a few searches online and I have seen some people say that this model is a non interference and some say its an interference engine so I don't know what to think.

As far as I am aware, the 1.9 jtd IS an interference engine.

That is to say, when the belt snaps, the valves will hit the pistons and cause damage.

I can double check with my Gates timing belt book, but I am pretty sure.

Thanks Andoo

Just a bit annoying that one person in the garage said its a non, so I am all geared up for a bill of about £400. When a different person then said its an interferance. I have done some searches and have seen mixed answers (although most were saying non).
