Hope this helps, i have attached a few Pictures to show how i managed to free up valve in the EGR. First take battery out and then take out battery holder, 3 bolts.
you can see that my EGR is the 2 part valve, so just undo the 3 x t20 star screws, out she pops, if the valve is stuck, use a pice of wood and a rubber mallet and knock the sping in, spray with egr cleaner or WD40 and work free by pushing the spring in and out whilst spraying in to valve. reverse the process reset engine light with a diagnostic tool. happy days.

So your not actually removing the complete EGR just the solenoid?
Correct, providing the solenoid is the 2 part one then you can actually free the valve by pushing the spring in and repeat it worked for me as I have had EML on due to error code P0401 air flow egr valve. Been great and took just two hours to complete and no cost.

what are the symptoms of bad egr? my doblo is dumping black smoke and really low in power but no warning lights. checked hoses, replaced a few sensors, checked injectors.
