Hello,

Currently we own a Fiat Grande Punto from 2007. When we go camping we have to take out the back seats in order to have room for all our things, and it is very crammed.

So, now we are thinking about selling the Punto and buying a used Doblo.

In addittion to bringing all of our camping gear (which I suppose is about 1000 liters, since that is the max capacity of the Punto according to internet) we would like to bring our bicycles.
These are two large, city bicycles so nothing can be taken off or folded in.(Google "cortina fiets" to see an example)

We went to the dealer and he said he thought it would fit. Or course we couldn't try cramming our bikes into a car that still has to be sold.

So I wanted to ask you Doblo owners 2 things:

1. Do you think I can transport 2 large bikes in the Doblo and still add my camping gear?
2. What advise can you offer me on buying my used Doblo. We are looking at the following:
- max 100.000km driven
- no older than 2008
- max prize about 8.000 euro's
- nice to have : multifunctional steering wheel; air conditioning; parking sensors.
- must run on regular gasoline not diesel

Am I right to see (on used cars sites) that no Doblo has cruise control?
Is there an advance to buying a Doblo from 2010 and up?

Thanks!

I would go for the Hi Roof Doblo (wheelchair adapted in most cases).

Go for an MPV, not a van as you are restricted to lower speeds.

Cruise can be retro fitted for around 350 pounds GBP.

Parking sensors can also be retro fitted, I just did mine last week. The bumper on mine (2008) has blanks in place so you can correctly place the sensors. A kit costs around 25/30 GBP and comes with a hole cutter.

The rear light clusters are a bit tight so any wiring should be soldered and taped rather than adding connectors.

Things to look for in a Doblo is tyre wear at the edge of the tyre (could be steering alignment issue or wear in bushes) and knocking from suspension going over bumps. This can be bushes, shock absorbers or worn components.

I have no idea how good or bad petrol (gas) engines are as I only have a JTD model.

There will be someone along soon with more info :)

It is possible to get two large bikes into the back of my hi roof, without the 60 portion of the 60/40 split rear seats in place, but its tight and they do tend to end up diagonal across the back. Dare I say scudo panorama might be better.
