Hi guys,

So I know this is a common fault so hopefully you can offer advice! My 2001 doblo has been diagnosed with fault in its fuel injector pump, rotor position fault. The pump type is the wonderful Lucas epic, no. 071723582.
So the garage is quoting 1800 for a reconditioned one... Looking on eBay they are between 2-400 with a warranty... What have other people done about it, how much did it cost and if I replace it, can it be with a Bosch model rather than another Lucas epic?

I rather think you will have to stick to the Lucas, unless you are prepared to go down the road of swapping out the loom & ECU as well

I can't be sure the ECU wouldn't marry up to the existing loom, but in my experience, the wiring is always different, plugs are different, sensors are different and so on......

£400 seems awfully cheap I have had the same problem with my 1.9D. All working like new now but at a cost. Where are you located.

Topcat5, how much did you spend? I've been quoted 2300 for the job but as 1800 of it is on the pump I'm trying to source my own. I'm based up in aviemore. I can't afford to pay full whack and its over double what a paid for the van in the first place! Just hoping I find an option to get it done..

I heard there is a Doblo in the scrapper round Carse Ind Est in Inverness...

I also spotted one in a garden in Scorguie, Inverness. It seemed a more likely candidate as it is around 2000 on.

However, I wouldn't simply stick to the Doblo as the Fiat range was pretty much fitted with the JTD. I should think an ecu from any JTD Fiat would do as long as it is the epic.

Hehe well mines the yellow one that sounds like a tractor and goes about the same speed! Give us a wave if you're overtaking..

It's a 2005 (55). Few dents in the doors and in need of back tyres.

However, it is going cheap (cheaper than your pump).

The price is 1300 pounds, not sure if that comes with a years mot, but perhaps a haggle will let you drive it away for 1100/1150GBP

Much cheaper than 1800 for a pump.

AND you could use your old one for spares
