So I have 2011 doblo cargo and every time I go over a bump I get a banging/rattling noise from the rear. It happens on bothsides and independent of each other, my brother has 1 to and samething. I also spoke to someone else who has one yep you guessed it that does it.
Anyone shed any light on the problem. Thanks

Dampers? Mine clunked and rattled over uneven roads and had to be replaced before 30k miles. There were lots of faulty ones on the early -2010- cars apparently. Later cars I don't know about.

At just over 30k and three years old the front strut bearing began to grind. They both needed replacing and Fiat contributed to the cost.

Needless to say I was unhappy. I also noticed small spots of damaged paint where the rear sliding door corners touched the bodywork when fully opened.

I would hope that the latest cars have got these unnecessary quality control problems, which cost me money, sorted out.

Something like £50 the pair, or less, on eBay by the looks of it. Not too bad really.
Before I go ahead with the repair, the sound I have is just like someone left a screwdriver behind one of the panels that bounces on every single lump or crack on the road. That the symptoms you had?

I wouldn't do anything until you have had the fault confirmed. The rattle on mine was like something loose from the rear suspension somewhere ... Rattle rattle as the rear suspension worked over some uneven surfaces. The salesman accompanying me knew what it was the moment I commented on it. He was right.

But if I were you I would get professional confirmation before spending any money, I'm not a mechanic and in any case I don't trust distance diagnoses, it's the same with out of hours doctors on the phone, not reliable in my experience.

It sounds like a damper, but I won't guarantee that. Have a mechanic take a look.

Jazz, Several of us on here have had the rear dampers go on the latest Doblo between 25-35000 miles. Mine sounded like something was loose in the rear when they went. They were fixed under warranty though in my case.

So today I rang fiat to see about a fix for the maybe dampers. They say as you bought the van secondhand the warranty on the 3rd year may not be valid as it didn't get transfered at point of purchase. Not heard that one before, they also said I can transfer the warranty at a price of £50:tempt:, I'm waiting on a phone call tomorrow to confirm. Will post back with results.

Thats correct although i'm sure the transfer fee is only £36. Anyway this is not your concern or fault (how are you too know) the dealership should be paying the transfer fee for you (no doubt they said it was still under fiat warranty in the sales pitch) phone fiat customer services and tell them how unhappy you are with your purchase and your dealership (nothing new there!)

I will be ringing them tomorrow to see where I stand, the garage rang me back and said O you only have 2 years warranty its a professional purchase. This was after customer services and the local garage said I still had warranty.

Went to see my mechanic today to see if he could see any problems with the rear suspension. Within 10 seconds he said the noise is coming from the shock absorbers and the lower bushes have failed on both sides. Don't think the bushes can be bought so it's looking like 2 new shockers. I have never had to replace a shocker even after 200k, these must have failed on about 30k. I'm now 65k anyone else had them changed?(n)

I just changed a pair or rear shock absorbers on a Hyundai Terracan.

They were so done, the car actually bounced

Anyway, the bushes were perfect. Not a bit of wear.

Either FIAT are using super crap rubber or the design is all wrong...perhaps a combination of both.

I have Monroe's on the back of mine and they seem excellent.

My guess is the leaf springs are what kills the bushes. Coils just do up and down, but leafs seem to travel all over the shop and manage to destroy the bushes quickly

When the rear dampers went on my 2011 Dobblo the dealer first changed the rear damper bushes (which are available) but it only made a tiny difference and it was only after I returned the car for a second time that the dampers were changed that silence returned.

common fault on doblos............infact on most fiats
Well my brother has done 280k in a 2008 doblo cargo only thing changed in that time was clutch on 60k. In fact I have had 9 fiat vans never changed a shocker yet but like my mechanic said the latest one's aren't built as well.
