I have a 2003 doblo 1.9 jtd and over the last couple of days its developed a problem and hope someone on here can help me.
Its happened three times and all of a sudden the engine starts to rev very highly without any warning. It's as you can imagine very scary when driving (parked up until sorted).Have checked all levels and they appear fine so was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
Many thanks,
Alan

Hi Alan,

If the engine runs uncontrollably you have to force stall it by putting your foot firmly on the foot brake, then in 3rd or 4th, let the clutch out until the engine stops. Plenty of utube footage about this. Diesels can run away like this when the turbo oil seals fail and the engine oil gets combusted until its all used up and the engine seizes.
It might be something else, but best be prepared in case.

Hi,thanks for your reply.I dont have to stall my car,I just switch off the ignition as normal and it stops straight away.It did it this morning twice in quick succession and when I immediately restarted my car I drove it three miles home without a problem.I dont trust it at the moment like this.

Only a guess, but is the throttle sensor behaving itself?
Believe they are a wireless arrangement on our Doblo's.
Again, I'm guessing but would have thought a diagnostic test might signal up a potential fault with the throttle sensor.

Thanks for your assistance mate,I'll take it into a garage on Monday, much to techo for me.Thanks again

Just had my car to the local garage but the boss werent in,have to go back at two.
Other mechanic put it on computer and the only fault that came up was
THERMOSTART RELAY.has anyone heard of this.It did say THERMOSTART and not STAT.
Hope to hear from someone.Thanks.
