Has anybody replaced the glow plugs on the Doblo Cargo 1.9 multijet 120 BPH. Some people say they are hard to do. Its the 2008 model. Just on the changeover. Thanks.

Haven't done the Multijet but did do the 8 valve JTD 105. Awkward to say the least but definatly DIY doable. Needed long reach socket with flexible couplings and long reach pliers to remove the cables and replace after individual plugs replaced.
Had a troll back for old posts covering the Multijet plug replacement without success. Did find some images and it looks like the plugs are accessed alot easier on the Multijet as opposed to the older 8 valve (had to go down through the inlet manifold arches to reach the plugs).

Can you remember what size socket I need for the glow plugs?

I'll have a look to see if I've still got one of the old ones knocking about and check for you. Think is was about the 10/9mm mark.
Worth getting a decent long nose pliers to pull the electrical leads off prior to removal. When I did mine a remember reading somewhere that removing the rocker cover gives better access to the glow plugs - it doesn't, waste of time and money buying a new rocker cover gasket for no gain.

Found one of the old plugs - 10mm socket - you'll need a long reach and go for a hex if an option. Another tip is put some blue tack in the socket first, then when the plug finally unscrews, the blue tack will hold the socket onto the loose glow glug for final extraction.

Thanks for your help. I am going to do them soon. I will let you know.

I have the glow plug light flashing up after start up, so I bought a set of plugs in readiness for replacement. On inspection I can see that this looks like major operation as I can barely see the plugs. Would I need to remove the inlet manifold & egr to ease the access? Any ideas please?

Referring to when I done my older 2005 1.9JTD, removal the inlet manifold is definately NOT necessary. Thinking back, I had my EGR removed and fuel return box (black plastic box component) loosened. Can't remember if it was necessary to remove the fuel return box or not.
The real key is to use long reach flexible socket extensions and as said previously, blue tack inside the socket to grip the old plug when it finally clears the threaded recess.
Going back to the EGR, good time to give it a clean whilst it's removed.

Thanks for the reply, I will make an attempt at replacing the glow plugs in the next few weeks. I'm glad that I won't need a manifold gasket. I might give the engine a little was up before hand hoping that it might make things a bit easier removing the old plugs?

I did mine a few months ago, its very tight but do able. EGR housing off, fuel lines unclipped and out the way. Would recommend a 1/4 socket set to get in the tight spots.

OK. Thanks for the tip about 1/4 drive tools. Most of mine are 3/8 drive, so I will see what I can muster up
beforehand.

Did mine last week and they were easy enough once you get the egr and stuff out the way. Thanks for the heads up on the 1/4 drive sockets, thats all you can get in!!
