Was looking at a list of parts on the Euro site - you put in your reg & it gives umpteen choices of each part & the prices vary quite a bit.
An example is the fuel filter.
starting with guttmann £28.74, Crossland (recommended) and UFI £39 and Premium quality £45
Oil filters £3.48 - £5.28
etc

I know they say "you get what you pay for" but surely these things have to be made to a minimum standard?
I've also learned that there are many things in life advertised as "best" or "Premium" or such like - and it's just words to persuade buyers.

Wondered what the general consensus was?

I've just put a cheap euro carparts branded egr on my doblo and its running like a bag of old spanners , so I rang them and they said I would be better with a quality pierberg one , so I've got to pay to have the cheaper one took of and replaced with a quality one , I hope the flipping thing runs ok , I can sell it then .

Good article, things like the retention of filings and pressure at which it bypasses (if filter totally clogged) and if it does at all are also important.

Hence my confusion.

Is the guy even qualified to make such statements though?

His conclusion seems to be based solely on the amount of filter medium in the can.

What if the 'best' filter only catches the 'gravel' whereas the one with the least amount of paper catches the much smaller 'grit'?

Once upon a time, people would fixate on a brand - "I must have brand X electronics - they are far superior", whereas nowadays, brand X tends to be nothing more than a badge on someone else's product.

As some vauxhalls use fiat engines, should drivers be using genuine fiat filters rather than genuine Vauxhall filters?
Or do fiat simply buy their filters in from XYZ corp - who make filters for hundreds of marques & simply print the marque on them?

Won't that simply be a recon unit where Euro simply shove their sticker on it?
