hi my doblo 1.9d has started overheating, changed head gasket still the same, any sugestions if it needs new head or block, anyone else had same problem,,thanks brycee :bang:

My Doblo had the same problem, on mine it was the radiator that packed up, check that it isn't leaking.
A new rad was fitted under warranty.

Hi mini, I have seen several doblo's with heads cracked after overheating. Was your cylinder head hot crack tested and skimmed? If not and you cant find a leak, and the cooling fan is operating ok, then I would have a chemical test carried out to confirm if the head needs to come off again.

cheers mate we are going to do that hopefully this weekend was talking to a local courier company, they have had lots of probs(but were fixed under warranty),thanks

If you see some of my previous threads, my 2001 doblo 1.9 overheated at 21k on the clock without warning, at 40 mph and had to have a new engine fitted by the dealer. A fault was found in the block, and given as the cause.

hi we are getting doblo back 2 morrow,it needed a new head (fiat supply factory recon ones complete ready 2 fit)so they no its a problem, after talking to a local courier company who run them they have had the water loss problem, only way to fix is new head (fiat have discontinued one of the engines because of problem) but wont admit there is a problem thanks brycee

hi doblo ther is 2 versions of the 1.9d and the 1906cc(i think) is the problem,we have had 2 fit factory recon head(comes already built up) from fiat, they no theres a problem but wont admit but have stopped making the engine, local courier company runs 10 doblos he told me exactly what problem was ,,,,,,

I presume the two versions of the engine are a turbo or non turbo, & it's the non turbo engine that has the trouble which seems strange because it must be quite an old design. I would have thought the faults in it would have been ironed out years ago.

I wish I had come across this forum earlier. We bought a Fiat Doblo 1.9 van over a month ago. It is a brilliant runner. I, myself, have a petrol car (not a fiat, yet) but this van is fantastic. I am gathering from this forum that there is a problem with these engines overheating ! It's a 2001 model. I am guessing I should have this insured in case the engine dies. I will have to check this out.
