Hi bought a doblo 1.9 JTD ELX 6 weeks ago and love it BUT, went for MOT and failed on bloody air bag light staying on I told the guy I dont care about the airbag he said new legislation says its now a Fail, I have been reading through the posts and am still scratching my head, I have bought lead off ebay OBD 11 and connected well at least i think i have connected to airbag, please correct me on 2003 model is the connector in the panel on dash where fuses are housed? I have hooked up to my laptop via Fiat ECU scan software and Its just timing out not connecting. I am screaming inside lol most likely easy job if your a bloke. I dont want to let this beat me as can not be paying £50 for diagnosis and another £ however much for a garage to click a button and clear problem in seconds. I have contemplated taking out the bulb but guy at mot station told me that if light doesn't come on and go off he will fail it.

PLEASE HELP ARRRRRRH

lol thanks in advance Lolly :)

I have got myself another cable a VAG KKL software is Fiat ECUScan and have managed to get a connection, now I have an error code of 103 intermittent error, down in bottom left corner in red is flashing Latency Too High, I have tried to reset the light but to no avail.

Any Ideas or pointers Please I'm running out of time for retest.

Lolly:eek:

Just a very long shot but have you tried switching the air bag off. Believe it's key activated by the side of the front passenger glove box.
I think the cut off switch only affects the front passenger air bag - something to do with safety for babies being strapped onto the front seat - but you never know your luck.
Have you googled that fault description/code to see if that gives you any pointers.
Is the software you're running a free version or the payed for version?
I'm no expert on the software subject but from what I've read on this forum, the paying version (£45 per annum) seems to be the way to go.

Hi tried turning passenger air bag off and on but its the drivers airbag light that's staying on, The software is not paid for its the free version as the reason I'm trying to fix myself is because i am skint :) so getting desperate now I'm scared that i could pay for software and my luck would be for it not to work.
:)

Yes Lolly, appreciate the dilema of throwing good money after bad and not getting a result:cry:
Only mentioned the paying version because from what I read that on here, gives you all the options. That said, I've been debating whether to buy the software rather than trying the free ones then I clocked that it's an annual fee. I've downloaded a couple of freebees and can't get either to connect work (probably my lack of IT skill).
Your probably aware yourself, but from I understand, even if you clear the code and the fault is still present, the fault code will reappear until the source fault component is rectified.
Sorry I couldn't give any positive advice but best of luck in getting it sorted.

Incidently, where did you download the free version of the Fiat ECUscan from? I've tried a couple of links and didn't have any success. Might be better than the freebees I've tried.

Re: Doblo 1.9 JTD Nightmare PLEASE HELP

Thanks for reply still working on it, I cant remember where i got the link from for software have been on loads of places that google search pulled up and found it on one of them somewhere.

Have cleared the latency error now by altering the rate on my com port, have cleared other errors but this one just will not budge.

Here is the error worded exactly:
01-Control Unit Fault Unknown/internal error Intermittent 103

The ECU indicates a defect in the internal component. Verify that the ECU receives interference free power and has a solid ground connection. Clear the Code, test drive the vehicle and ensure that the code does not reappear.
The reason for this fault is Unknown/ Internal error.
The Current status of this fault is Intermittent
The error counter value is 103

Has anyone else come across the same fault and if so how did you fix it?:bang::bang::bang:
Thanks Lolly (y)

Re: Doblo 1.9 JTD Nightmare PLEASE HELP

have look in the multipla section for some good airbag / MOT info,
charlie

Thanks charlie have had a look not found anything that is the same I took out the control unit yesterday I think it is the problem, so today's task is to find a replacement part from a breakers yard and just hope that its not from a doblo that had the airbag light on already.

Cars A who would have them :bang:
thanks again and any further advice from anyone would be most gratefully received.

there's a guy on ebay in halifax that will reset your module for £20 and send it back, i own a sedici and this route worked for me, didn't use this fella myself tho, but he seems to have good feedback... he was called airbagrepair...

Thanks for that drjod, I have today at last got that light to go out and stay out and have had my retest for my MOT and passed :D

How did I do it?
I bought a second hand Control Unit from ebay and it arrived this morning I disconnected battery and left for 30min then took out old control unit and installed the new one from ebay reconnected battery and bobs your uncle light went out thank god for that, easy job once you know whats wrong. Will defo be looking out for another second hand control unit as a back up.

Cant believe dealership quoted £500 for new one and I paid £30 on ebay and was sorted. Hope my post may help someone else in the future, Dont give up where there is a will there is always a way.

Thanks again to everyone for your support and advice. Lolly :D

Not dealers fault, Fiat dictate the price. Also the way some people will see it is you now have a airbag module fitted of unknown background, yes it put the light out but will it operate in the event of an accident?

Hi yes your right its not the dealership that dictates the price, but point is that price is way out of most peoples reach to be fair. And yes I do not know the background of the Module but all i care about is getting back on the road and passing my MOT if I had the choice i wouldn't have an airbag fitted, in my opinion and i know its prob not everyone's opinion I don't like airbags I feel that in an accident I stand more chance of injury from the bag than anything else. I Have been driving for over 30years and never had the need of one before, personally I do not care for them at all.But each to their own I guess.

One thing that having to fix the problem has reminded me of is Its beneficial to learn to service and fix your own vehicle its saves you loads of money (y)
