Hi
Have just purchased and fitted new "bump stops" to my 2003 doblo people carrier. The springs don't look worn or weak but the new stops are almost in contact with the spring without load. I have read through the past threads on this subject and believe that these devices should be called spring assistors and as such might be intentionally in close contact with the springs.
The ones I bought have an alloy casting slipped on to the bolt so that it sits between the chassis and the assistor. From what I can see the remnants of the old fittings did not have these on them. Should I have removed them before fitting? My doblo has not had a hard life and I don't think the springs need replacing. Advice from a fiat expert would be welcome.
