Just purchased a 1.9 JTD Dynamic 56 plate from an independent garage in Bristol. 66000 on the clock so asked for a new cambelt and water pump to be fitted which was duly done plus new MOT.
Drove back from Bristol to Cheltenham without issue, just as I came off the motorway, Warning "Low Break Fluid Level" red light came on with the message " Stop the vehicle immediately", pulled over in lay-by checked the fluid level, all looked ok at max level. No obvious signs of fault. Breaks working ok, continued journey home fault showed another x4 times. Cause ?? any one.
Then later that afternoon the " Injection System Failure" orange engine symbol came on and stayed on. There was no obvious loss of power and the engine ticks over ok and drives ok.
Should I be overly concerned about this, I need to take it back to the dealer for investigation, should I drive it back or get it towed, Any advice on this.

Many Thanks
Steve

I get the brake fluid message when cornering a bit too enthusiastically to the right. I think that the sensor is playing up as it only happens when turning right. The brakes work and there is loads of fluid.

You need to have the car plugged into a computer to have the code read for the engine symbol. My first call would be to the garage you bought it from and they will advise you on how to proceed. It's the best thing to do as they will be paying for the work (if they are reputable and offered at least a short warranty). There is loads of advice about this kind of stuff on the Honest John website about how selling garages have certain responsibilities etc.

Was it a Fiat dealer(ship) or an independent garage/dealer?

Thanks for the response. I rang the garage this am and explained the situation and will be taking it back tomorrow for them to do a diagnostic. They seemed to think it will be ok to drive as it hadn't gone into limp mode. The car came with a three months warranty,so I hoping things will be ok.:)

Brake warning light could simply be the pads wearing a bit means less fluid in the reservoir, if it is just covering the sensor, it will set the sensor off when you go on a slope/cornering/stopping etc.

Mine does it when turning sharp left, it's the sensor but it doesn't bother me as I know what it is.

Why go to honest john website? we have loads knowledgable folk here including lawyers;)

Just a quick update Took the car back to Bristol and the garage inform me it that it was a faulty EGR. This was replaced with out argument. 5 mins down the road, you guessed it, the engine light came back on, so a quick u-turn back to the garage. This time upon inspection they tell me its the DPF sensor? and it will take then two days to get one as their parts dept are out of stock so yet another trip is planned back to Bristol to get it sorted.
I just hope that this is sorted this time, but I ain't holding my breath. The car does come with a 3month warranty but even with that I don't know how far obliged the garaged would be in fixing any further related faults. After reading various other threads about how costly a DPF is to replace I'm getting a little concerned even to the point of getting a couple of quotes to have the DPF, if indeed it is that, removed and re mapped. Any views on that.

Thanks All
Steve
