What I love about my Doblo so much is that despite being a 7 seater it easily gobbles up all sorts of outsize loads and yet it is not a massive vehicle like a Caravelle or Transit. This year I have moved the following with my Dobby;

4 bikes upright
Fridge
A medium sized cement mixer (only God knows how it fitted)
6 passengers and a dog (twice)
2 chairs from a three piece suite to the dump
A 400 kg vintage paraffin engine
8 wheels and tyres
2 petrol lawnmowers
A tractor gearbox to the dump
A 150 litre workshop compressor
A pneumatic car tyre changing rig
4 People Camping for a long weekend
5 'Guns' & 3 dogs on a pheasant shoot

plus

Glass display cabinet, 2 chest of drawers, living room chair, 4 kitchen chairs, small table, 600 books, Hi-Fi etc, etc..........

I separated those immediately above as I have made a challenge to myself.
I have to move house over the next 3 months. The challenge is that I am going to try and move the whole contents of a medium sized three bedroom house using only the Doblo and as a bit of a twist I am not going to allow myself to use the roof bars. The things that will be a struggle will be the double bed, the wardrobes, a three piece suite, dining room table and my heavy duty workbench all of which are longer than the Doblo's main loadbed.

I reckon it will be up to it though. :worship:

Anyone else moved some strange stuff with their passenger Doblo ?

I got the smaller of the two settees in the Doblo today. I had to fully remove row 2 and row 3 seats and slide the passenger seat right forward to just get it in. Worked a treat. Problem is the next settee is a foot longer

Don't worry I am not going to bore you all to death with a blow by blow account, but I will let you know if I do finally manage to move it all in a few months time.

I may even try to take some piccies if I can find my missing digicam

:life: :D

I moved house using only a Doblo a few years ago. Apart from a bed frame, had to use a T2 camper for that. Good luck!

Mrs Bean's Doblo has been used for the last 4 years with her gardening business. Three guess's how much horse manure, compost and other types of organic matter was moved. She bought a specialist boot liner that has been fantastic for keeping the inside clean. We have also been to the continent with it and are in the process of moving to Germany. The car is now registered in Germany and sports smart new plates. It does confuse people here because they are not used to German plates on a RHD car. Anyway, we will be hiring a wagon because moving house with just the Dobbie will take a month at least.

This could be the first German registered car on the site:chin:

I contemplated a liner for mine but was faced with having to cut holes in it so that I could keep it in place and fit the third row of seats. I also couldn't find one that went all the way forward to the drivers seats and up the sides to protect the plastic side trims. In the end I just bought a roll of hardwearing carpet and lined it out with that which has worked very well. When it gets coated in muck, I just pull it out and hose it off. The main advantage though with a second carpet is that it works with all the seating combinations

This is who we got our liner from, http://www.rhinouk.co.uk/ It's 4 years old and has kept the back of the car really clean, It can be hosed down or brushed out and it does go all the way to the fron seats - loops over the fron headrests. It is held onto the sides with Velcro, you just have to make sure everything is clean.

I am sure if anyone has a seven seater they will be able to do a liner that suits.

That Rhino liner is quite good. The fact that they are a small company whom are happy to do a made to measure service should mean that they will make exactly what the customer wants.

The back of a passenger model doblo with the back seats down can fit an IBC (intermediate bulk container) on it's pallet! It's an almost exact fit.

Cheers

i moved house with my dobbie (ok my brothers transit was used for the sofas) but everything else including the trips to the tip after removing the junk left in the new place was done with my '05 plate 1.3 dobbie!

such a great car / van / talking point / temp storage unit / taxi / ambulance (Mate with a busted leg lol) / true multi purpose vehicle

Still moving house with mine. Chest of drawers got moved last week.

We got picked up from the airport from the airport with seven large suitcases and associated hand baggages and all the driver and all three passengers fitted inside comfortably.

Another time I moved four large sun beds and loads of other stuff. It swallows at least 15 sacks of coal without even putting the seats down. Another good thing is that you can push long flat items like wooden planks into the shelf above the passenger compartment and rest them on the top of the rear seats.

If all else fails you can always use the roof bars but I have never had to resort to this!
