Hi,

We had our 2006 1.9 Multijet 120HP oil changed and serviced at a Fiat garage about a year ago. They reset the oil change and service warning lights etc.

A year has now passed and we’ve only covered a few thousand miles. There should be no need to change the oil yet (no warning light) and I’ve recently done all the 12 month required service jobs.

Service light is now showing daily on start up though.

My questions are:

Is there a way to stop this without plugging into a PC with FiatECUScan software (which I haven’t got)?

Is the service indicator just for information, can it be left alone, are there any knock-ons if not switched off?

Cheers and many thanks

Ron

the service reminder is set to 12 months or the mileage indicator. which ever comes first

A garage can reset the light, commonly for around an hours labour charge.

Hi Ron,

If you are in the area you are quite welcome to reset it with my copy of FiatECUScan (no charge) and I'll even throw in a cuppa :)

Why are you not changing the oil, it should be changed annually regardless of mileage shouldn't it?

Only case where this is different is if the car has an oil degradation system and it then tells you when to change to oil - which it is doing now, so ideally it needs changing, especially if the car is fitted with a DPF!

Hi,

Thanks for replies.

If there are no knock-ons from leaving the service warning then I think I’ll leave it for the time being. Perhaps I should now look into getting FiatECUScan.

The 2006 1.9 120HP Multijet oil change is required when the “Exhaust oil” warning light is displayed (From the handbook: After the initial signalling, each time the engine is started, the warning light will continue to flash cyclically for 3 minutes with intervals of 5 seconds with the warning light OFF until the oil is changed) or every 2 years. Looks like another job for FiatECUScan in the future.

Cheers

Ron
