hello everyone new to this site so hope you can help. I have a 1986 fiat ducato with an eldis conversion.Van has hardly been used for last five years and we just put 1200 miles on in last six weeks .Problem we are having is a bad vibration through van and gearstick betwwen 40to 60 miles an hour ,but Not through steering wheel .it disappears at sixty but as soon as dropp in speed in comes back and appears to be getting worse .also has anyone got a manual for this vehicle .it is a 2ltr petrol ,thanks:)

Sounds like a CV joint/joints to me. Check your gaitors are intact, then put it in neutral jack it up and turn the wheel by hand you should be able to feel resistance from a bad joint. Also check the grearbox mount. With that kind of vibration I'd be worried about the bearings in the diff so deal with it asap.

Another thing is after being idle for that length of time the caliper slides are sure to be seized and the discs badly pitted do you have ovality/grabbing when you brake?

I agree with Ziggy it sounds like flat spots, probably on the rear tyres.

You don't have to jack it up to test a CV joint just drive round in circles with full lock on in each direction. There will be a bonk, bonk, bonk noise if one has failed.

Would this thread be better placed in the Ducato section?
