Well the dual mass flywheel has finally given up the ghost today and left me stranded for the second time in 8 years.

now the van is just going to be sat idle until the company i have found who make the solid state flywheel and clutch deliver this item.

i have payed for the Solid state flywheel and clutch conversion kit and as soon as this enters my palms and is successfully fitted i may just be able to point people in the right direction for this part at long last.

for those that are interested in this part, please keep an eye on this thread.

details will be posted as soon as i have them.

i have payed 410 including delivery so far from a trusted ebay seller (found by google) the cost for fitting has yet to be agreed!! (y)

the flywheel i have is an original factory fitted part which has covered 84.000 heavy torqued miles (first 20k were very smooth :slayer:) unitl i learn t about tuning etc.

anyways :worship:

Thanks for that news. I've done 90,000 and my clutch is ever-present in my mind. I haven't done any tuning other thatn the Italian variety of course, but I do soemtimes go for it :D

I am probably going to get a Dacia Duster in January and I need the old Dobbie to keep going till then. The tailgate struts are tired, the rear wiper doesn't work, the central locking on the tailgate has packed up, and the brake pipes may need replacing at the MOT in September. The rear section of the exhaust is original and looking very red too

Why the Duster by the way? Because it's the nearest replacemet for the Doblo. Same performance, same insurance, less tax and better economy - otherwise does pretty much the same job - with great ground clearance. I've looked at the alternatives, but none quite ticks the boxes. Fiats are great of course, but just too expensive. It's a shame, but what to do?

Thats good news my dual is on its last legs after some remapping it has taken it`s toll hope it`s the same for a 1.9 multijet ?

Still waiting..... 13 weeks so far.... It's been paid for an literately waiting for it to be made/come in stock/dispatched.

It's annoying the hell out of me.

If i gained a £1 coin for every time i was told ''2 Weeks'' i would have £12 now.

Still waiting.....:bang:

Finally received a full refund and £25 extra for the months of lies I received!

Here's to the search opening wide again!!!

Not happy :(

Was a guy on eBay named "techniclutch"

Thanks for naming him, now we can all steer clear.

Hmmm....... Is that particular engine used in any other model ?? Maybe get one from a breakers ?? Have you tried Motorhog at Doncaster ?? They seem to be very active breakers.......The man to ask for is 'Eggy' !.....very helpful fella !
Or maybe modify a solid flywheel from a close match ?? I bet there's something out there that's a close match.....just a bit of detective work and some measuring,eh ??

I've been searching years. If you find one. Let me know. I have ££££'s waiting and maybe a reward would follow. These engines are in loads of vehicles it's just not the same set up with box etc. please feel free to help on the search...

Scott.....
If you wanna p.m. me a few details of your van....chassis number /reg number, year etc and which exact engine it is,I'll see what I can drum up on my travels ?? There's gotta be something out there !! ;)
(Might be going over to Motorhog myself in the next couple of days, for some bits for a Rover 45 that I've just bought....so I can ask my mate over there.)

Just had a look on eek bay and there are a few flywheels on there, including 1 new one @ £144....Plus there are quite a few 'breakers' being advertised on there. Quite possible that one of those will fit the bill ?? :)

As anybody ever investigated an option of either welding up or bolting up the original DMF?
The biggest mod would be finding a new clutch plate with inboard springs to replace the original 'solid' plate with no springs. The tension take up spring mechanism of the DMF would normally do the job until they fail.
For my sins, my hobby is off roading and for this, my toy is a modded Vauxhall Frontera with an Isuzu 2.8 (factory fitted) engine. Unfortunately the 2.8 Frontera as factory fitted DMF as standard. Alot of guys have done both the bolt up which requires counter sunk bolts being fitted or welding up option. With the weld up, great care is required to ensure the flywheel is totally flat after the weld up or else judder will the evident. To do this spacers are inserted into the DMF and clamped whilst welding to ensure the accurate flat surface is achieved. With the bolt up, accuracy is more easily achieved.
Due to Vauxhall and Isuzu both being under the GM umbrella, alot of cross-overs are available between the Frontera and Trooper. The Troopers are fitted with solid flywheels and that does present another option. The biggest blessing is that the Trooper spring loaded clutch plate can untilised in the modded DMF of the Frontera. All the guys I know that have modded their DMF's vouch for the successful transformation with the added bonus of cheaper clutch replacements in the future.
I wonder if the same can apply with the Fiat and other similar designed car groups
