Hi all,
I have a Doblo 1.9 freedom.. yesterday it stopped entering 4th gear... i have looked at the linkage on the gearbox and all looks to be ok...
Does anyone have an idea what might be the problem...?
Thanks

It would go in sometimes if I shifted the gear stick quickly back.. but now it feels like it is going half way in... then with a bit of pressure on the gear stick it grates the gear teeth... reverse was sometimes a problem too grating the gear teeth, but it is intermittent...

Yeah, I'm full depressing the clutch... the strange thing is that it started to enter 4th gear yesterday... but the gears still dont feel right... they feel clunky is the best way I can describe it...

Thanks for your help so far... I will change the oil... can you tell me is it a simple job..?

Like all these things its simple if you have the right tools and a ramp is invaluable. Knowing where the drain plug and filler plug are is the main challenge and sorry I can't help you with that as I don't have a workshop manual. If youre not comfortable with it and it is a filthy job take it to fiat garage, they may have other ideas as to what the problem is.

I have a clunky crunchy change through all gears, I was lead to believe its because the thrust bearing is starting to eat into the presure plate thus reducting the throw when depressing the clutch pedal do clutch not fully engaging. We had one clutch replaced to fix this and its back now with a vengence :( Could also be your gear shifter starting to bend where it welded (and therefor weaker), mine snapped off!

when i bought my 56 reg doblo cargo it had a problem with 4th gear, wouldn't stay in at all. Took it to a gearbox specialist & they replaced 4th gear. I got them to do clutch & flywheel at the same time

cost £760 in total

Had part of the syncro hub break & jam 4 gear rest of box was ok :bang:
