Hello there,

I've just registered, as I've brought a 2008 Doblo in red, though its still on the forecourt and should be picking it up later this week.

I should have perhaps done more checking, though it was super clean, history, good dealer, 1 owner, and good price. Took it out for a test drive and no problems, in fact I was very surprised how well the 1.3 multijet engine performed, after driving a 1.7 astra diesel, the doblo is rather nice.

Anyway, I recently signed up on a van website that makes checks for vans.. and the website recommended the cambelt being changed on the doblo at 24000 miles or after 5 years. I have no idea whether this is right, I thought the engine is the same on vans and on passenger cars, as honest john recommends differently, so can anyone can give me some advice?

Thanks

I'm not sure whats more embarrassing, not being able to use the forum correctly (finding the search tool) or able to answer my own question.

Older post found relating to "26k/5years - replace cambelt?". That solves that. Mines 23k miles and 4 years old, so should be done soon I guess.

Anyway just wondering whether this can easily be done at home? My old astra was a pain in the a*** to work on, is the doblo any better? The astra had a underside engine cover, which was a pain to remove.

Sorry for the bold, I cant switch it off.

I think you'll find the 1.3 Multijet has a chain not a belt, so you don't need to worry about the belt change!
