hi, my 52, gives a bit of belt noise first thing in a morning when cold, for about a minute, rest of the day its fine, i replaced the fan belt and tensioner last week, its done 110k, it had a cambelt replacement at 80k, what could it be, do i need to worry ?

Hi mate,most likely cause is the clutched pulley on the alternator is starting to seize up,first thing in the morning when you start up the battery is low and the starter causes a large drain,this puts largest load on alternator to try and charge battery. Once its been running a while and the battery voltage has gone up it doesn't have to work so hard,so noise usually goes. Alternator a bit of a job to get off so I usually get it fully checked/recond'd while off, not worth doing the pulley only to have to remove a month later because its not charging. Battery on it's way out can also cause auxiliary drive belt noise.
