Hi all, got a o7 doblo 1.3 multijet, firstly i have problems with light/indicator stalk but after reading through the forum have decided that contact cleaners going to be the best option to try first so cheers to whoever mentioned that :)
Next my blowers dont work on 1 2 3 but they do on 4 any suggestions as to weather that will be an easy fix and what it would be?
Then my personal fave, cold/damp mornings sometimes it will start sometimes not. never sure what its going to do.
keys in ignition on let glow plugs warm and pumps prime, bang there she fires, next morning same conditions bluuuuuurr nothing, touch the batt terminals with jump leads then take them off and 7 times out of 10 she'll fire, also have tried firing while in gear then she sometimes goes the go after but not very common. garage have done tests and say all is fine, iv had to go and buy a battery jump pack incase i get caught short while im out in the sticks, asi just never know whats going to happen next.
i know its not very well explained but any help at all with these matters would be much appreciated, cheers james

Get your battery jump pack out and firstly check your glowplugs.Take off the air box and take out each glow plug seperatly using a 8mm socket.Be carefull not to wring them.Put the negative clip of your pack on the centre main part of the plug and then touch the top of the plug ie the part the plug lead slips on to and the tip should glow.If it glows good plug.Check them all and then refit and see what happens. Its a matter of trial and error. If this dosnt work check battery, battery terminals and glow plug leads, might be no power going to the plugs. It could be a number of things.

I'd say it's more to do with lack of power in the battery if it does far better with the jump leads on.
What you are doing is increasing the power of the battery so it can spin the engine faster.
Glowplugs aren't an essential to starting a diesel, they really just make the process easier for the domestic user - and less messier.
With regards to testing the plugs, can they not be done in situ by simply testing for continuity - they either work or they don't so a multimeter will detect a bad one - OR, rig a light to the pos terminal of the battery & with the connectors removed, touch the head of the plug. The light will come on if there is continuity?

They can be done in situ allrite using a tester that can be got in a motor factors or as you say with a multimeter.Battery pack or charger handy if a multimeter or light not at hand.Think I got a pocketmeter in Halfords for about 20 euro, handy to have.
