my son has a van he bought off ebay. it runs well and pulls well at 105k, im surprised at how good it is.alas it cuts out randomly, 5/6 in 3 months.except for the last time its a case of wait half an hour and it restarts, the last time it happened in an awkward spot and he is not happy.
the local ,non fiat garage said pumps. the cheapest is inside the tank and so that was swopped.has,nt stopped it.a mate works for kwikfit mobile and plugged in his computer and it came up 5 faults, all fuel related.low pressure , fuel pump ,control bar?, so looking at the mechanical fuel pump but not cheap i think.
has anyone had this problem and could offer any advice please? we live north of brum near cannock but can get into brum easily with the van.its a shame as the van is very good apart from this expensive problem and is causing my lad to lose confidence in the van.

Yes there is a problem with the Doblo set-up, but Fiat specialists will not admit to it. I have the same problems and so far it has cost me £1500+ on straight bills, i.e., not counting the cost of towing and overall inconvenience; and for me a self-employed builder, lost jobs. It has been a nightmare. I have been twice to a Fiat Main Dealership and been obviously ripped-off by others (especially mobile cowboys).
The Doblo problems are now legendary in the world of Fiat. The main fault (and there are others) is the ingress of air into the fuel. The drawing of fuel from the tank through the filter before feeding to the injectors is A MAJOR MECHANICAL EFFORT for the Doblo engine and along with the very unreliable fuel filter canister and non-return valve set-up, the engine will lose power and cut-out. I have had my EGR, ECU, MAF checked and replaced, new fuel and injector pumps fitted, all to no avail. The problem remains. Furthermore, it is bloody dangerous. I have a friend who owns, or rather did own a Fiat car. She was driving along the M11 one night last year with her children strapped in the back when she suffered the same problem while overtaking in the outside lane. Fortunately she was able to get to the hard shoulder: but I dread to think of the consequences had she not been able to do so. I am looking for another van; BUT IT WON'T BE A FIAT.
