Yes, the fiat 500 diesel and nissan kashcow.
Mind you, you can't get away with driving a petrol in a sedate manner either - even petrols benefit from a decent burnout every so oft.
Although they singled out the 500 & the kashcow, they did say other marques also suffered.
I think these were singled out as they are advertised as being ideal for the urban driver - urban proof.

It is a bit of a bummer to discover you have to do a 20 mile round trip each weekend as well as pay a grand to have the elastic band in the dmf replaced every time it snaps. Add the extra price of a diesel and b****x does it save any money.

Doing the odd clear out can help some non-dpf diesels as well. When I tow a heavy load for at least an hour with my mondeo diesel it runs like a dream for several days after. Seeing this thread reminded me that I hadn't given it a clear out lately so early this morning it had half an hour at 3000 revs in 4th gear round the M25 rather than the normal 2000 revs in 6th. It ran really well when I returned home with it tonight at more normal engine revs, so it probably didn't do it any harm. I think the trick is not to overdo the revs thing though, I wouldn't advocate 4000 revs plus for long periods.

A question for the forum. How might you do a regen on a dpf equiped automatic ?

Where did this 20mile figure a week come from, unfortunally without the DPF your car tax would be higher or not legal for the UK.

Yeah I do a 30 second blast up a hill every week or 2 and never had a problem, clears it out and keeps EGR clean.

What do you mean by regen on automatic?

T - I think that he is thinking about not being able to sustain high revs.
