I've checked my fiat doblo over and there appears to be nothing wrong with it, based on the number of cries for help I'm either missing something or it's only a matter of time....the soft clutch pedal even appears to have fixed itself and the economy remains in the mid 50's (1.3 multijet) It also keeps starting when I turn the key and moving forward at an appropriate speed in relation to pressure on the accelerator and gear usage.

Please help, I'm worried I may have purchased a rebadged vw touran by mistake.

Please keep quiet or everyone else will want one meaning less for us;)

I am a member of quite a lot of forums. Generally people use these forums if they have a problem, so they are not really representative of the real truth!
The Doblo section here is well used so overall the reliability of Doblo's could be worse than other models, but who knows, if your car is OK and to me that is the way it should be after at least a century of making cars most manufacturers should by now have got it right!!!!!!!

quite agree with your comments you only tend to get the horror stories and model specific problems.
especially when you have a variety of engines and changes in them

How is that measured please? - I cannot get above 50 with mine and a very light right foot!

What type of driving? mine is mostly motorway, when we do combined driving or mostly town it can vary between 48-51.

Thanks for the info but - is this what the computer is saying or are you measuring each gallon v mileage tank to tank? My computer gives 50 plus in the readout but I know that it is far from accurate. Very limited motorway useage in my case - if there was the consumption would be in the 30's unless the wind was behind me 'cos of the high roof I suspect :D

Computer, will have to do a comparison with the manual method.

Got 58.6 today on the work run, but i was trying really hard

Around town I'm getting 45mpg and that is orange light to orange light with a fill of only 45.46litres (10 gallon) and that is also a blend of 9 gallons diesel plus 1 gallon veg oil (now the colder weather is here).

Love it! I also have a Doblo with absolutely nothing wrong with it. I did have a 2006 1.9JTD that had endless problems, but my current Jan 2008 1.4 Petrol Doblo Dynamic High Roof is absolutely flawless. A bit slow, but I use it around London and the traffic moves at a snails pace anyway.

Many moons ago, me & dad bought a pair of cars ("how much? - discount for cash? - OK, how much if we buy 2?)
Same model, same age, completely identical.
Both garaged in the same, double, garage & his covered slightly more miles than mine due to his longer commute.
A few days from first birthday, the dash on mine played up - all the lights would come on when the handbrake was applied.
The washer bottle level sensor simply stopped working on mine.
By 8 years I had renewed the exhaust, starter and alternator.
By 9 years I had a pair of sills and by 10 years I had to have a new boot pan (inc wheel well) as the original was completely shot.

Dad's didn't even have so much as a replacement bulb.
Both cars out in same weather, both driven similar driving styles, his had about half as many miles again as mine.
As far as i was concerned, crappest car ever - stay well away, dad couldn't have been happier with his.

I've seen 80mpg on the computer once or twice! It really is a work of fiction I think...

Robin - there is no doubt about it - there are lies, more lies and then the computer returns on MPG for all vehicles :D.

I was looking at a Toyota Hybrid which the manufacturers claim upto 70 plus mpg, on one demo car the computer return showed 54 mpg so I suspect that the real figure measured by neck to neck filling (the only true way) made it less than 50 mpg - which is possible on a diesel so back to the drawing board on that one? !

Wish I could get even 40mpg with my 1.9jtd. Coming back from Newcastle down the A19 it was an average of 34mpg! The day before, going the other way it was 43 - can't get a logical fault pattern - nothing wrong with the performance and the fuel gauge matches the computer and NO - the handbreak is properly off! I'd smell it over 130 miles!

I put Comma Diesel Magic through my tank every once in a while. It's probably about as effective as magic beans but I do see an improvement in economy afterwards.

Whether it's just me being more light-footed for psychological reasons or not I don't know...

Since you have touched on a subject very close to my hart (MPG well i am a Yorkshire man after all :D) im just begining to wonder if iv dropped a clangger getting rid of my 06 reg 1.9 multijet van that used to do a genuine 56/57 mpg that was brim full to brim full, the computer used to say 62mpg, now i have a 1.3 multijet active estate 85 BHP and im struggling to get 50 but its only done 1000 mile and im living in hope it will get better but cant see it ever getting better than the old 1.9 :cry:P S if your ever in a trafic jam in yorkshire its usually me at the front :D
