Hi.
I have been out and about today in the Doblo and other than the faults I need to do and a bit of hesitation on acceleration all was well until a big Gull decided to splatter my windscreen, I pulled the wiper stalk and washed the window but at the same time the management light came on and solid never to go off! The car is running as before no change and I wonder if this is related. I thought you could read off the codes on this type of ECU by shorting two pins in the socket and reading off the flashes on the light, has anyone tried this I wonder, if its not related to the "wiper" are there any common things to check first.

Hi.
I took the car to a local garage that i know and read the codes. the lad thought I had a faulty ECU as just about every code was in memory, he cleared the codes and the light went off. After a little running the only thing to show as incorrect was the down stream lambda sensor which was remaining at 5v so no doubt its open circuit.
He did think my diagnoses of the faulty wipers could be causing noise on the wiring (electrical noise) and corrupting the ECU.

where is the ECU on the 1.2?

That's a good question! There is an ECU mounted on the side of the throttle body, which is subjected to all that heat from the engine which is not good electronic practice, but I am sure there must be more electronics somewhere else that I haven't a clue where it could be.
There's not a lot of info out there on the 1.2

Sounds like it is the same.
I am new to Fiat's having had an Audi 80 avant prior to the Doblo. I did have my dads old Uno fire when he died in '97 though and it was a nippy and economical car.
Having been made redundant and then a re-occurrence of my heart trouble I have had the time to get to grips with the Doblo without rushing at it, all very therapeutic you know!
