Hello.
I was recently given a Doblo 1.2 SX MPV for the princely sum of £0.00 it has done 101,000 miles and was unused for 18 months.
It is in nice condition but has some rather odd faults. When I got it I took out a day insurance and "booked" it for an MOT, I drove it 225miles to my home!
It drove fine other tah the rusty brakes and a whine from the clutch release bearing.
Any way this week I have serviced it (oil, filters, discs, pads and repaired the exhaust).
The odd thing though is quite a big leak from the gearbox only when the engine runs, irs definitely gearbox oil as you can tell by the smell, i've topped the box up and put some stop leak in as well, is this a common problem or because the car was idle for a long time?

I can't imagine they would do that, I am sure you will get another some day! I am enjoying putting it to rights and it sure takes away all the other worries of life.

Hi.
I have ordered a front oil seal (layshaft) and a release bearing, I was wondering if anyone has a photo of the inside of the bellhousing they could post as the oil that leaks out is very bad, even when parked, its about a litre a week. I am wondering if it is the seal as looking at the clutch cover through the inspection bung it is totally dry! Is there any where else oil could come through from the gearbox?

I think I may have made a blunder, the oil leak had worsened today and I found a driveshaft gaiter (inboard) badly split, so I think this is where the oil is leaking from. As the dealer is shut till Tuesday I was wondering if a stickyboot would do? I see no reason why not and of course it does not rotate!
 
Hi.
A good job done, I ran the car up on ramps then drained the oil out of the gearbox, I then removed both clips from the boot and removed the boot from the gearbox flange and driveshaft bearing. pulling the boot along the shaft I then cut the boot with scissors to free it from the shaft. I was able to trim the stickyboot to the correct sizes using the old boot as a template. I then offered up the new boot over the shaft making sure I didn't do it the wrong way round, I then carefully glued the "split" together and left it to set for half an hour (had a cuppa) I was then able to slide it onto the bearing and gearbox flange, I also aligned the glued portion to the top, I then fitted the two clips and compressed the tightening loops. I refilled the box with fresh oil and ran the car for 20 minutes. All is well and the the leak cured, it took about an hour but I didn't rush the job at all, doing it this way is so much easier than disconnecting driveshafts etc, and of course the inboard boots don't rotate so the stickyboots should last well here.
