Hmmm, is the roof really designed to hold two people?
To be honest, I find it much easier to have an empty car most of the time then simply chuck in a bit of camping gear as and when needed.
I have the 2 man easy up tent - instant up as well as a 3m x 6m pop-up gazebo to provide the extra shelter at night (for tent and car!) - this has drop down sides to give additional privacy.
I have a couple of really sturdy picnic tables, each made from a sheet of exterior ply, that can be assembled in seconds - one to cook on, the other to eat & prep.
Fitting the dobbin out like they have done adds a heck of a lot of weight and unless it is easy to remove, it adds a lot of extra weight.
It's a nice idea but not for me, my camping gear is a couple of plastic boxes with rollers plus a couple of bundles, everything in or out in a couple of minutes & camp is set up in another few minutes.

The idea with these doblo campers is they can be used for an entire summer trip, so have toilet, sinks, fridge, extra battery systems..etc. like bigger campers..but the travel cost is ultra low. We were meeting people in france whose fuel costs were double ours and so travelled around less.
Even fully laden my doblo camper still gets the MPG of a small petrol car. I had to upgrade the suspension, and now its great. drives fine and I use it as a car, but can just drive and have full camping facilities at any time. Good feeling of freedom.
I could, if I wanted, carry all my camping gear all the time as it is all very lightweight but I like to keep the boot relatively free. Surely, kitting the back out like a camper - with sink etc, adds quite a bit of weight. And moreso if you are to add the sleeping tent thingy on top - leaving a roofbox on a car is supposed to reduce consumption.
I know the tent thingy is designed for two - but what is the carrying capacity of the roof?

as long as you design it lightweight. Out of plywood its ok. the sink i have weighs nothing. There wasnt a great deal of difference with the rear seats removed and the camping equipment installed. Its when you add the water, tins of food etc it starts to feel laden. So a fully kitted doblo can still be used like a car, then you just load up the water and food when needed.
the bed roofboxes are ok, as they flatten to almost nothing and are streamlined. I had to upgrade the rear suspension though as i have a normal roofbox and all the camper stuff. Its a lot of weight when you camp. i.e. 20 litres of water and two bikes on the back. has to be a 1.9TD minimum.
The only thing I'm planning to do is utilise the idea of the platform floor.
I'd already looked at underbed storage boxes in plastic so just need to look at creating the platform floor - possibly 4 or 3 sections. Definitely need a section either side to cope with the awkward shape then the middle section to lift out for access - probably do a front & rear section in case anything goes behind the boxes.
I have yet to decide on the height of the platform - or if I have 2 - one shallow to store everyday junk & allow the dog to sit comfortably or a higher one to store cases etc under & let the dog sit quite high.
Of course, it is possible to have 2 platforms & keep the higher one folded down most of the year.
