Hi there all, im from Singapore. I am driving a 1.9 Doblo 2007 model. Recently, when i drive, there is a noise coming from the engine when i drive. It sounds as if its a noise caused by the belt. The noise is smth like moo-woo-moo-woo ( no i dont have a cow stuck in there ). And if i drive 100km/h or faster and when on the process of stopping, there is a very loud hollow noise that comes that sounds like (wooooooooooo).

I went to my mechanic who suggested it is a problem with the fan belt. So as my Doblo is still under warranty, i went down to the authorised service station and first they said the sound is unusual and after a few hours they called me and said that my tensioner was dirty and the dirt was causing the sound and they had already cleaned it and its alright. So i collected my vehicle and as i was driving immedialtey the sound came again but i was rushing off somewhere so i went back to them the following week .

This time, they said the sound was caused by the wheels which sounded like rubbish to me. I insisted it was not as my friend is driving the same model and he does not have the same noise and then the guy said 'actually its normal for a 1.9 but the 1.3 does not have that sound'. I was not happy and after some time they agreed to take a look at it again and a few hours later they said 'its a very rare noise, we have sent a report to Italy and we shall wait for our engineers' report from there and see what they advice'.

I doubt they will do anything about it because trust me the service over here is horrible. Anyway, anybody here knows what could be wrong with my Doblo?

Pls advice.

Thanks.

Mine doesn't, but it did, before the belt and tensioners collapsed and were replaced under warranty.

It shouldn't make this noise, so get them to do whatever they have to to fix it.

hi thanks for the replies guys. one more thing, last night i was driving at 120km/h and when i stopped gradually, there was a burning smell but it was not the tyres smell,so i opened up the bonnet and the smell was coming from there,my radiator temp gauge was in e middle and i had just topped up coolant in the morning. Also when driving at 120, the vehicle was steering towards the left - cld that be an alignment problem?

This morning,it was fine there was no smell nothing.

As for the mechanics- they are hell bent on maintaining that the sound is normal and its bloody crazy when they me their engineers do not know what the problem is and that they had to check with Fiat Italy department to find out the problem.

Deeear me.

Be carefull it could be belt tensioner, the smell of burning may be the auxillary belt .get it looked at again to be safe.
