Technical Doblo rear door mechanism

The catch is not clicking in,i'm told a spring has gone.
The rod is fine,as i've had the whole unit out.

hi all bought an 03 plate fiat doblo cargo van got it home etc then locked the back to for in the morning it not to open tried evry thing couldnt get in went to fiat thay wanted a fortune so grinded the panel behind drivers seats to get in, opend it up had to take bottom lock of the door now it opens and shuts but wont lock, has anyone got any ideas what this could be i think the van was central locking at one point but doesnt work now.. the key turns freely in the lock like its not catching anyhelp thanks marc

have a 03 doblo as well back door giving trouble for a while used to give it a thump around the handle and it would open but not anymore it still opens from inside but i had the van divided in 2 for carrying dogs have had to take the divider out now as i cant get the door open from outside any ideas?

Had this problem, there is a small rod that gets coroded, simply spraying it with wd40 does not work, you need to push it with your thumb so that it moves sidways, while lubricating it a few times, ie keep locking it, after a while it will free up enough so that it springs over on its own then it will work properly.

topman has already done that mate (see post #4) a few weeks back but now got this problem:(

New lock for the bottom end and a wee rod adjustment fixed it. Around £35.00 inc bruised knuckles!!! (y)

Hello, this is my first post. I have had a problem with my rear door. I have had my mechanic look at this and he says that there is a deadbolt preventing the door from opening but he is having problems accessing the mechanism. Is this the same problem as described previously? Sorry but I know nothing about cars and and only have the good faith of my mechanic to trust.

sorry to hijack here. I have had this same problem with my doblo (2001 1.2)
rear door locking mechanism. i just lived with the not being able to open from outside, until today it gave up the ghost and refused to stay shut.

after close inspection i found the bottom lock catch on nearside had pushed itself up into the housing and is stuck... the part number is "T0261F"

i have tried freeing it up but its well stuck.

anyone had a similar experience? is it possible to force it back out easily?

if not could someone point me toward the right place to get this part.

im hoping its not too difficult to fit. its the part that is joined to rear door with 2 large star key bolts and joins to a bar and a cable (presumably for central locking) inside the door.

Basically it is knackered ( technical term!) A replacement part is not expensive, under £20. It is easily fitted and you may want to replace the torx screws with allen bolts.
After fitting you may need to adjust the rods, but do nothing till you replace the k'd part.:)

Post or pm again if you need more info.
Part no 51757820 - Lock £35.46 inc vat.

Mamaged to fit this part at last without any problem and it locks now... but still not opening with the outside handle. (n)

i managed to get the door panel to swivel around the inside handle rather than removing it but looks like im gonna have to go back in there.

whats the best way of removing the inner door handle?

so let me get this right, the bottom catch on the n/s door (the bigger one) has something to do with the door not locking?

i'm having the same problems as mentioned, door locks with key and central locking but doesn't actually lock, just makes all the noise's, pull the handle and the door comes open, everything mentioned above i've checked.

i,ve taken the bottom catch out which has gone inside itself making the door stick out at the bottom, this catch has some wire's coming out, is it this whats not letting my back door lock?? oh and one more thing why is the rear interior light on all the time?? is this to do with the same catch??

p.s its a 2001 doblo cargo 1.9d

thanks matt

hi chaps, new here so this is 1st post,i just bought a doblo on a 55 plate, and there are a couple of things i need help with please, firstly yesterday i want to opend both back doors and the smaller o/s door wouldn't open(it used to) but it just clanks now as if the mechanism has kind of fell apart, the top catch realesed but not the bottom 1,i think my mate pushed the lever down instead of pulling towards himself and somthing is bent inside or has broken off,any ideas please? 2nd problem theres a kind of clunk/knock from the rear offside when cornering fiat have been all over it and found nothing, some say bushes any ideas on this as well please,

I had the same knocking, corners, breaking, speed bumps etc. fiat replaced the the rear leaf springs, bushes etc and that fixed it. They said the noise was from the bush when they clamped the whole lot to the bench and wiggled it. Luckily it was under warranty but the bad thing was it happened again after six months or so.again they replaced the whole lot. Try some quality grease to see it that helps.it didn't for mine. Think it's just t
A Doblo quirk as its starting to creak again going over sleeping policemen.

hi,thanks for the reply i'll have a look at that then cheers, just got to try and sort this rear door out now :(
