Starter motor problems

My Fiat Doblo 1.9 diesel had the starter motor suddenly pack up. I got a salvaged one fitted and it was fine for about the first ten starts, then it started to make odd noises, now it won't start at all.
Is it likely that the second one has just packed up by chance or is there some other fault causing the starter to pack up?

Any advice gratefully received as I have also just been made redundant and can't afford many more repair bills!

Re: Starter motor problems

Is there a specialist near you that can check the new motor? It sounds like the salvaged one might be faulty too.
Was it straight from a scrapped car or was it a reconditioned motor?
